Q1. What are the pre-requisites for the EMT course?
A. There are no-prerequisites for the EMT course. Please click here.

Q2. What are the pre-requisites for the IPP?
A. The primary pre-requisite is that candidate students must be qualified EMT on a recognised
national register of EMTs. Please click here

Q3. Do I need previous experience to become an EMT?
A. Previous experience while helpful is not required to attend an EMT course.

Q4. What driving licence do I require to become an EMT?
A. A driving licence is not required to become an EMT. However most employers of EMT, and indeed paramedics, will expect qualified personnel to have at minimum a full clean B licence. A full C1 and or D1 may also be required.

Q5. What are the age limitations for the EMT course?
A. EMT students must be at least 18 on day one of their course of training. There is no upper age limit.

Q6. Can I pay my course fee in instalments?
A. A place on any course can be confirmed on receipt of the relevant deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. Ordinarily the full course fee must be paid prior to commencement of the course. The outstanding balance can be paid by agreement over the first seven weekends. The course balance must be paid in full before the final week of training.

Q7. When will I sit my formal EMT examinations?
A. In Ireland, the NQEMT exams are controlled by the Pre-hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). They decide on the dates and frequency of examinations as well as who can be examined at each sitting. For PHECC calendar of exam dates please click here
